Jason Whaler Heads to Rehab

This has been a long time coming, don't you think? Former Laguna Beach and The Hills star Jason Whaler has gone to rehab. It looks like the usual - a way to avoid going to jail. People reports that Lauren Conrad's ex "was due to surrender at Los Angeles County jail last week to serve a 60-day sentence for a September 2006 assault case, but a judge delayed that in lieu of rehab."

Whaler has been involved in a string of run ins with the law, so hopefully this will get him back on the straight and narrow.

The Hills (and former Laguna Beach) star Lauren Conrad was in New York City yesterday, shotting for new mark. (an Avon offshoot) ads. Here's a peek at her diary entry on her web site:

Hey. I'm in New York for my shoot for mark. So much fun. We are on our second day. We shot for 10 hours yesterday and today's gonna be just as long but I'm having fun playing with the make up. (I got to see all their new stuff!!) Excited to get back to LA because Audrina and I have been redecorating our apartment and we start filming in a couple days.... Here we go again!!

Jason Whaler Arrested Again

TMZ informs us that Jason Whaler is issuing his own version of a cry for help. At least that's how I see it. Whaler, a former star of MTV's Laguna Beach and of The Hills, was arrested in Seattle this weekend after getting in a fight. And he didn't just leave it at that. Instead he " spewed a barrage of racist and offensive slurs during his arrest in Washington state this weekend, allegedly calling a police officer a "nig**r, fag**t, and poor f**k," this according to the police report."

Someone get this guy into treatment! Good move dumping him, Lauren.

Uh Oh for Laguna Beach Alum Jessica Smith

Seems it's all the rage these days for celebrities to be racking up DUI charges. I hope this doesn't turn into the newest trend. Former Laguna Beach star Jessica Smith was arrested on Monday for a DUI on, quite fittingly, the freeway near Laguna.

While driving, she rear-ended an Acura due to Smith's "level of intoxication, unsafe speed, and wet roadway conditions," a statement from the California Highway Patrol read.

She was arrested booked at the Orange County Jail. Luckily, only minor injuries were sustained at the scene.

Jessica, 19, briefly dated Laguna Beach costar Jason Wahler during season two of the show and he had his own run-in with the law, recently sentenced to 60 days in county jail for assault charges. Nice.

Cover Girl: Lauren Conrad on Cosmo Girl!

OK, I admit it. I watch The Hills. I also watch Girls Next Door. Sue me. Like a car accident, I just can't tear myself away. The Hills (and former Laguna Beach) star Lauren Conrad graces the cover of the March issue of Cosmo Girl! magazine and models girly spring clothes inside the issue. She also dishes about a recent club tussle.

"This girl comes up from behind me and taps me on the shoulder. I turn around to say hi and she says, "You're a b*tch," and pours her drink on me. This is a girl I've never met before in my life ... I've never been in a fight before and I don't think fighting with girls like that is a very classy thing to do."

Lauren recently appeared on an episode of Tyra Banks' talk show with her fellow Hills castmates. This is the first time I have seen her in an interview setting, and I can't say I was impressed. I like her just fine on The Hills, but on Tyra's show, she seemed annoyed that she was even there. Probably an off day, but in her line of work, you can't be having off days on national tv.

When Does Ryan Seacrest Sleep?

Seriously, I want whatever he's taking. He's like the Energizer bunny - he keeps going and going and going. Last night, for E! Television, he was doing the red carpet coverage with Giuliana DiPandi, he has his radio shows, American Idol, a few restaurants, a clothing line ... geesh, I'm tired just thinking about it.

We mentioned earlier that he has a new show in the works, and now we have a few more details. The new reality show is called Paradise City, and it will be produced by Ryan and co-produced by the gang behind Laguna Beach. It will air on E! in the Spring, and it follows a group of twentysomethings trying to make it big in Las Vegas. Says Ryan, "There's beean nudity, the craziest 48-hour parties and attempts to do things that would really injure one's body for the rest of their lives." Sounds like fun.

Kristin Cavallari Turns the Big 2-0

The former Laguna Beach actress Kristin Cavallari turned 20 recently, and celebrated at the grand opening of the new Hollywood hot spot Sideways Restaurant & Lounge.

The dinner included about a dozen friends, including actor Nick Zano (What I Like About You), whom she also spent New Years' Eve with. "He's a sweet guy," she said. "I'm very happy now. I'm in a happy place."

This celebration also happened to be on the same night that Britney Spears and her new boyfriend stopped by as well.

"This is the first time I've seen my friends [in a while] so I'm having the best time," Cavallari told People magazine. "I'm kind of getting over the club scene. I like this better because you can actually talk to someone instead of yelling at them. You can talk, eat food and just hang out with your friends."
