Tobey Maguire Chats with Future Spidermen

I love this picture of Tobey Maguire, listening intently as a costumed youngster talks to him. Sweet. Tobey was meeting fans at the New York Museum of Natural History's "Spiders: Alive!" exhibit yesterday. Being a relatively new dad to his 6-month-old daughter Ruby, his Spider-Man costar James Franco said, "He seems like he's an excellent dad. He's completely consumed with that child."

First Pics of Tobey Macguire's Baby

Us Weekly has the first pictures of Toby Maguire and his fiance Jennifer Meyer's new baby. Their new daughter is named Ruby Sweetheart. That's not a typo, her name is Ruby Sweetheart. She's now eight weeks old. These pictures were taken on Christmas Eve in a Beverly Hills park.

Here's what Us Weekly compiled from recent interviews:

Why the name Ruby Sweetheart?
"Jen's grandmother, who passed away recently, would always call her 'Sweetheart,'" Maguire explained to Jay Leno. "We named her that to honor her grandmother." As for Ruby? "We just like the name."

What’s Tobey like as a dad?
"He’s having the best time with Jen, taking care of the baby," says a friend. And Sam Raimi, director of Spider-Man 3 (out May 4), tells Us, "I know Tobey to be a perfectionist, and very in touch with his emotions. He'll be the most sensitive, loving father."

What did Tobey think of the birthing process?
"Nobody really coached me on it," Maguire told Leno. "They say, 'OK, catch her!' I'm like, 'What do I do?' I ended up just kind of putting my hand on her while the doctor put her on Mom’s belly."

What do their friends say?
"They’re the coolest parents," a Maguire pal tells Us. "They're the first of all their friends to have a baby, and the friends are eating it up."

Will they marry soon?
Engaged since April, the pair actually "wanted to get married before the baby was born," says a family friend. "But they couldn't get it together in time."
