Jimmy Buffet Protects the Integrity of Margaritaville
Jimmy Buffet won a battle against a Texas based online merchant who was selling Parrothead-themed merchandise, according to E! Online. Through an out of court settlement, Buffett protected his trademark and prevented the sale of Buffett-branded goods through any website other than his own. The district court issued an order requiring that the site be entirely shut down.
However, the parrot stealer didn't like the judge's order and decided he wouldn't shut down the site after all. The judge rewarded this conduct by throwing him in jail for contempt of court. Shortly thereafter, the settlement was reached, he was released and was allowed to reopen the website.

"I signed an order while confined to a jail cell, to no longer offer Jimmy Buffett items or advertise Jimmy Buffett items," Akard told E! Online. "Jimmy Buffett no longer needs to worry about me competing with his Margaritaville stores."
