Ousted Amazing Racers Talk

Kandice and Dustin fell a little short of winning The Amazing Race All-Stars, but they definitely had a great time trying. In Touch magazine recently sat down and asked the pair of beauties a few questions on their experience.

YOU WERE SO CLOSE TO BEING THE FIRST ALL-FEMALE TEAM TO WIN A RACE. WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU WENT WRONG?
Kandice: During the final San Francisco Old Mint challenge, we weren't on the same page about which team we thought was the least trustworthy. That's pretty much when we lost the race.
Dustin: From the Mint, it was only about a five- or 10-minute taxi ride to the finish line, so there wasn't a whole lot of time to get ahead of Eric and Danielle.

IN HAWAII, THE KAYAKING SEEMED TO BE A BREAKING POINT FOR YOU TWO. WERE YOU JUST TOO STRESSED OUT?
Kandice: Yeah, it was a miscommunication. At that point in the race, we were exhausted and tired. But we got over it relatively quickly.
Dustin: I think the nature of that task was such a challenge - it was so hard to communicate with the waves crashing over us. We're all better now, and I don't feel like it affected the outcome of the race in any way.

THE TWO OF YOU TRIED YOUR HARDEST TO STOP ERIC AND DANIELLE. YOU YIELDED THEM TWICE. WAS IT HARD TO SEE THEM WIN?
Kandice: We looked at the yield as a tool and purely as strategy. Any team that was behind us was going to get yielded. It's just the way the game played out. We weren't trying to stop them, but this is a competition and they were a strong, competitive team. So it was just a means for us to progress further.

WAS THE ALL-STAR RACE HARDER THAN YOUR ORIGINAL SEASON?
Dustin: It was so different; it's hard to compare the two. The first race was a lot more physical. But this one was a lot more about the airports and psychological stuff. I think it was more balanced and well-rounded as far as the challenges went. We also had more fun with the teams this time around. The all-stars were able to separate the race from reality, so we all had a good time at pit stops and then raced hard during the legs.

YOU RAN BACK-TO-BACK RACES. ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE SOME TIME OFF FROM TRAVEL?
Dustin: Kandice and I are not good at sitting still. We don't know what to do if we're not on the move.
