It's Official: Nicole Richie to Be a Mommy

This week seems to be all about admissions ... first Star Jones finally admits that yes, indeed, she had gastric bypass surgery. Now Nicole Richie has come forward and admitted that she is almost four months pregnant with boyfriend Joel Madden's baby. Now why she had to do it on Good Morning America is beyond me, but no matter.

In a two-part interview (second piece airing tomorrow), Nicole told Diane Sawyer, "I would really want to be someone my child would look up to.: Unfortunately she has that pesky four-day jail sentence ahead for her DUI arrest back in December but said that "This is my way ... of being an adult."

Her boyfriend, Good Charlotte rocker boyfriend Joel Madden, sat by her side during the interview and said that when Nicole was arrested, he thought about leaving her. "This is a great time to walk away," he said, thinking he'd tell her, "Nicole, it's been great, but you just freaked me out." But instead, he said, "Or, you can go with your gut and, you know, my gut with Nicole has always been she's a great woman."

Nicole said she took five home pregnancies tests when she thought she might have been pregnant and "... didn't really believe it until I heard the heartbeat."
