Another Beauty Queen Bites the Dust

First it was Tara Conner and her partying, which put her Miss USA crown in jeopardy (and sparked the never-ending Rosie and Trump debate). Next, Miss Nevada, Katie Rees, gets photographed doing naughty things and ends up losing her crown. Now it's Miss New Jersey, Ashley Harder who has given up her crown because she is pregnant, according to the Star-Telegram.

Harder, who was crowned in October, is 20 years old and says that she resigned because the pageant rules do not allow her to be pregnant and Miss New Jersey at the same time. The baby is due in "late summer" and Harder "plans to marry her live-in boyfriend."

Ex-Miss Nevada Gets New Job

Given the racy pictures that got Katie Rees dethroned as Miss Nevada, her new job doesn't come as a big surprise. "Las Vegas promoter Jeff Beacher announced on Friday that she has signed a $2 million-plus deal to host a revival of Beacher's Madhouse—a raucous lineup of comics, dancers and other sex-charged acts that has become a hot ticket for the celeb set—at the Joint nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Rees will cohost - and preside over a female orgasm contest (paging Howard Stern) -with Beacher and regular emcee Pete Giovine when the monthly event returns Mar. 31 after an eight-month hiatus."

Her new boss said that Katie is "a really cool girl, really fun. I've known her for a while. The Madhouse doesn't shy away from scandal at all. Our show is the edgiest, coolest show in Las Vegas - she just fit in perfectly. She's got great stage presence."

Her agent said that she turned down offers from Girls Gone Wild and Playboy. So she has some sense, though the amount is still questionable.

"I'm looking forward to having fun at Nevada's hottest beauty pageant - Beacher's Madhouse," she told Us Weekly. Look at that, she's a pro already, throwing the place's name into her sentences.

No-Go for Miss Nevada, Katie Rees

When Miss USA Tara Conner got a second chance from Donald Trump, Miss Nevada Katie Rees had hoped for the same repreieve, asking for leniency from pageant officials who were taking away her crown. They said no, following up with this statement from organization President, Paula Shugart, "The Miss Universe Organization has thoroughly considered the request of Ms. Katie Rees to be reinstated as Miss Nevada USA 2007. In light of the serious nature of the circumstances, there is no recourse but to stand by our decision."

Miss Nevada lost her crown largely due to the racy pictures of her that were shown all over the internet and television. I'm sure her parents are very proud.

The Miss Nevada first runner-up, Helen Salas, has assumed the title and will compete in Los Angeles on March 23 for the Miss USA 2007 crown.

Miss Nevada Loses her Tiara

Well given the racy pictures that have been floating around the internet, this can't come as a big surprise.

Miss Nevada Katie Rees has been stripped of her crown. Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, said in a statement today, "Katie Rees has been relieved of her duties as Miss Nevada USA 2007. First runner-up Helen Salas will assume the title and compete at the 2007 Miss USA Pageant on March 23 in Los Angeles, California." Good for them. Donald, you listening?

In a statement to TV's Extra, an attorney for Katie said, "Katie Rees ... wants the public to know she was 17 and had a lapse in judgment." Please.

As for the photos in question, the statement says: "The actions on that evening in subject are in no way indicative of the person she is or the person she has become. She is a law-abiding citizen and talented adult. This was an isolated incident that occurred more than five years ago when she was a minor."

It's certainly been a rough week for pageants.
