Tim Gunn's Style Tips

Project Runway's host Tim Gunn recently released his new book, A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style, telling everyone exactly how to "make it work." Courtesy of US magazine, the 53-year-old former design school chairman gave a sneak peek:

What's an essential for every woman?
A basic black dress. It's appropriate for any high-end occasion. Get a white shirt too.

Name a big fashion misconception.
You don't have to be a size 4! Know who you are and how you want to be perceived.

You're also against baggy clothes.
I tell women who are size 12, 14, 16, 18, "If the clothes fit you, you're going to look much more attractive."

The newest season of Project Runway will be back this summer.

Take a Sigh of Relief, Tim Will Be Back

You can stop holding your breath now - Tim Gunn will be back on the next season of Project Runway.

E! Online reports that the "make it work" mentor said: "I am thrilled to make it official that I will be back in the workroom for season four of Project Runway," Gunn said, according to E! online. "We are in the midst of casting the designers now, and I can already see that it will be another amazing season." Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Elle fashion editor Nina Garcia will also return.

Now, recall that our concern was well-founded. Tim gave up his job at Parsons to be the chief creative editor at Liz Claiborne, then got his own series on Bravo called Tim Gunn's Guide to Style. He was also a guest star on Ugly Betty. We all hoped Tim wouldn't forget what got him all this success!

But Gunn's importance to the series wasn't lost on producer Harvey Weinstein, who credited the fashion guru's "passion, creativity and dedication" to making the show "such a commercial and critical success."

The newest season of Project Runway starts this summer and casting has already begun in Los Angeles and will head off to New York, Miami and Chicago.

Tim Gunn Leaves Parsons

Tim Gunn is a really busy guy. He's going to guest star on Ugly Betty and now Page Six tells us that he is leaving his job as the chairman of the fashion department at Parsons The New School for Design to be the Chief Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne, Inc. Page Six thinks this is why his Project Runway contract hasn't been firmed up. However, sources say that his new gig won't interfere with in involvement with Project Runway.

Tim Gunn to Try Out His Acting Chops

Tim Gunn, he of Project Runway fame, will be trying out his acting chops in two upcoming episodes of ABC's hit television show, Ugly Betty. Although not too much of a stretch, Gunn will be playing a Fashion TV reporter covering a scandal that breaks during Mode's runway show.

Joking about when he spied Betty's wardrobe, "My jaw almost dislocated itself. You know what's so funny? She wears a lot of designer clothes. I guess you find wretched stuff with any price tag."

Gunn's episodes will air on February 1 and February 8.

Tim Gunn's New Reality Show

What the hell is Bravo thinking? They haven't signed Tim Gunn up for the next season of Project Runway, but they are giving him his own reality show. Broadcasting & Cable reports that Tim's show, called Tim Gunn's Guide to Style will follow Tim as he gives people makeovers. Sigh.

In other random reality show news, Bravo has cancelled Queer Eye after five seasons. This summer will be the last season of the show.

We also learn that Paula Abdul has a new show coming out. It is a "documentary-style look behind the scenes at her life. The show, tentatively called Hey Paula, is set to debut later in 2007 and will profile the choreographer/singer/perennial worst-dressed candidate at work and with friends." Sounds like Being Bobby Brown II.
