Rewind: Beauty and the Geek
Beauty and the Geek is becoming a finely-tuned machine. This year, the Geeks are geekier and the Beauties are more, um, beautier. I think we are really in for a treat this year. In addition to fulfilling their roles perfectly, the cast this season just seems funnier and more competitive than in seasons past. Wel'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. Here's my recap of the premiere episode of Beauty and the Geek:
The show began with the traditional picking of the teams. They also got rid of the "pick the best looking nerd" factor, but they didn't get rid of the "pick the smartest idiot" factor. Maybe next year the girls will not be able to talk when picked as partners - they will only be able to stand there and look pretty. Did anyone else see the Pi guy make the Pi sign with his hands when he introduced himself. Thank God for TiVo, because I watched that part like, three times.
Then we get to know some of the geeks and beauties, with the highlight being Sanjay thinking getting booty meant getting a pirate's treasure. He said it really helped him understand some of us favorite rap songs. Sigh.
The first challenge was a Dewey decimal test at the library. The girls had to pull three cards out of the card catalog in the library, then go find the books. The geeks had to have someone put sunscreen on their back, get a girl's phone number and borrow a cell phone to make a call (all silly tasks requiring social interaction). With geeks expressing sentiments like they are not very good at running, it was a sad sight to see. Cecille (a busty blond) and Nate (a sincere and earnest fellow) won immunity from the first elimination.
A big twist this year is that they were all asked what their price would be to leave the show. Meaning, for what amount would they give up and leave the show immediately. It had to be a team decision, but no one took them up on it. Good try, Ashton! They didn't fall for your silly tricks.
For the elimination challenge, the boys had to give a stand up comedy routine and the girls had to interview one of the authors of Bestseller Freakonomics. Nate absolutely killed his routine, winning his team the ability to choose who goes to the elimination room to go along with their immunity. There was no doubt Sheree won the interview challenge - one of the judges said she was ready to be hired right away.
The final challenge was pretty painful. I really wanted Tori to lose since she was such a crab, but I would miss Sanjay, so I was torn. But, they just couldn't pull through and got sent home. They even hugged it out at the end.
Is anyone else addicted already?

the girl (name i don't recall) who's focused on in both your top pictures resembles STRIKENLY the blonde news reporter character from "the CLASS" on Monday nights.
seriously... freaks me out.
it's like she's a twin and no one seems to realize this. (it's the ditzy blonde who's married to the obviously closeted gay guy.. hilarious!)
anyway, love your site, and yesh, i'm already addicted to the show. somehow it's FASCINATING and since someone hooks up this time around, my goodness that will be hilarious.
