TV Guide Channel Nabs Lisa Rinna

Actress, boutique owner, Dancing with the Stars contestant, mom to two girls, wife to actor Harry Hamlin ... now Lisa Rinna can add a new title to her resume... red-carpet host and fashion expert. Lisa has signed an exclusive, multi-year contact with the TV Guide Channel to replace the mother-daughter duo of Joan and Melissa Rivers. Thank goodness! If that isn't enough, she is also set to appear as Roxie Hart in the Broadway hit Chicago this summer, opposite her husband, fellow DWTS alum Harry Hamlin.

Lisa will make her TV Guide Channel debut this September at the 2007 Emmy Awards. In the meantime, she sat down to dish the dirt.

TVGuide.com: Today's announcement came as bittersweet news because it's kind of a shocker that Joan and Melissa are no longer with TV Guide Channel. What would you like to say about it, Lisa?
Lisa Rinna: I have always been a huge fan of Joan and Melissa Rivers. Joan really started this whole red carpet phenomenon! I remember going to the Oscars and waiting in line to talk to Joan Rivers. Because that's what you did. Everybody wanted to talk to her. I am so honored to even be trying to step into the shoes that she created. I can never be Joan. I will never try to be her. She is a comedian and she's brilliant. I will just come in and be Lisa Rinna. You never want to be the one that takes over where somebody else was, but I guess we've all been in the same position. It just happens in this business. Everything happens for a reason.... Obviously, they were meant to go and do something else at this time.

TVGuide.com: Once again, you and your Soap Talk co-host Ty Treadway are Daytime Emmy nominees for outstanding talk show host. Interesting timing?
Rinna: Yeah, how about that? [Laughs] We were cancelled in July, so I find it quite ironic that one would get nominated for an Emmy for a show that was cancelled. Thank God it did end because look at all the great stuff I get to do now! Things happen for a reason; that's just always the way I've lived my life. I think it's all so cool and I'm honored to be able to step into this [TV Guide Channel job] and bring my love of fashion and my excitement for hosting. This has all been such a brilliant ride for me.

TVGuide.com: At last year's Daytime Emmys, you told me you had no prayer of winning. What about this year?
Rinna: It's even higher stakes this year, so I feel the exact same way. Not only do you have Ellen nominated, you have Rachael Ray and Tyra! [Laughs] It will again be an honor to be nominated.

TVGuide.com: So tell me about the little show you're doing with your husband, Harry Hamlin.
Rinna: I'm doing Chicago on Broadway, baby, from June 19-July 29. Isn't that cool? I am playing Roxie Hart. Harry is playing Billy Flynn. In the movie, Renee Zellweger played Roxie and Richard Gere played Billy. There's been a bevy of Roxies on Broadway — everyone from Brooke Shields to Chita Rivera to Melanie Griffith. It is one of the great roles for a woman.

TVGuide.com: Sounds like you're in great company with this awesome part.
Rinna: Are you kidding me? She's a child in many ways, she's a murderess, she's a celebrity-seeking fiend. I can certainly relate to all! [Laughs] She's loveable and a great, great character.

TVGuide.com: You'll have to be a celebrity-seeking fiend on the red carpet, too. Are you nervous at all about asking stars the tough questions for TV Guide Channel?
Rinna: I've had a taste of that. I worked for Entertainment Tonight last year covering Dancing with the Stars, and I did a lot of other stuff for them. I also did stuff for Access Hollywood. I will be doing it the Lisa Rinna way. A lot of [red-carpet reporters] don't walk the walk. They're on one side and the celebrities are on the other. I can relate to celebrities in a human way because I've walked the red carpet and lived that life.

Kenny Chesney Addresses Gay Rumors

Kenny Chesney wants you to know that he's not gay. There has been speculation ever since divorce papers filed by Renee Zellweger listed fraud among the reasons for the divorce. Some thought that was code for "Kenny Chesney is gay." Turns out they were wrong.

E! Online reports that the subject came up during an interview for 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper. The interview airs this Sunday. Here's what he said:

"It's not true. Period. Maybe I should have come out and said, 'No, I'm not [gay],' but I didn't want to draw any more attention to it," Chesney told Cooper. "I didn't have to prove to anybody that I wasn't [gay]. I didn't feel like I really did."

...

"The only fraud that was committed was me thinking that I knew what it was like…that I really understood what it was like to be married, and I really didn't."

...

"Even though I'd sit here and say I wish we'd gotten divorced instead of all that annulment stuff, and saved me a lot of public humiliation…I still don't have any regrets," he said. "I loved her, you know? And it was real."

New Couple: Renee Zellwegger and Luke Perry

Page Six reports that there's a new Hollywood couple on the prowl: Renee Zellweger and Luke Perry. Yes, that's right. Renee Zellweger and Luke Perry. They went out on Thursday night at the Sunset Tower hotel's Tower Bar restaurant. Page Six's spy says they were "definitely on a date," were dressed casually and "were talking very closely and rubbing knees." If that doesn't mean love in Hollywood, I don't know what does.

Golden Globes Fashion 2007

Renee Zellwegger found a way to make her tiny little body look not so great. She looks like she's trying to hide a baby bump in this picture.

Could these two be any cuter? They look like they are straight out of Central Casting. Oh, wait, they are.

Is Salma Hayek getting married or something? Whatever's going on, she's working those curves. And that's Emilie de Ravin from lost behind her making an "O" face.

Felicity Huffman provides another example of why short women should not wear puffy dresses. I don't make up the rules people, I just make snotty comments about them. But her hair looks great.

Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl looks a little 80's prom here, but she's sassy enough to pull it off.

Renee Zellweger Finally Talks About Kenny Chesney

Well, kind of. In a vague, circular fashion anyway. The actress recently sat down with Life magazine to discuss her divorce and her upcoming movie, Miss Potter.

LIFE: In your new movie, Beatrix Potter best expresses herself through the characters she created, like Peter Rabbit and Flopsy Bunny. How do you best express yourself?
ZELLWEGER: Oh, I don't know. I'm not a performer. I don't want to hop up on a stage and go "Look at me! I'm Renee! What do you think?" That's not me. What I do is very different. If I want to express something, it's through the filter [of a character]. So I never feel exposed.

LIFE: You made the movie in a very difficult part of your life last year.
ZELLWEGER: It was important for me to make this film—going to work and being with my friends, getting through the days.

LIFE: What was the hardest part about 2006 for you?
ZELLWEGER: Well, I'm sure that if you buy groceries, you might have read something about it. It's not on the top of my favorite things that have ever happened. [Her eyes well up] I'm not a superficial person. I don't care about what's on the grocery-store shelves. That's just salt in the wound. But it's not a television show. I lived it. [A breakup] is a very sad experience for anyone to go through, and it's not fun when people decide that it's a lovely thing to capitalize on. But you're oblivious to that because you are living the reality of the experience—which is devastating.

LIFE: Are you two still friends?
ZELLWEGER: I'll tell you that I was saddened. I'll tell you that it took . . . it's, it's not something I could [reason] away. It's something that I'll live through, but I don't want to talk about it beyond that because it matters to me.

LIFE: Beatrix Potter loved children but didn't have any of her own. Do you want kids?
ZELLWEGER: I don't think about it. I don't believe in prerequisites for happiness. It's not a mantra, it's just my composition. I don't have a list of things I need in order to be happy. I like to take the good that's in the mix [of her life] and use that to create the happiness today.

LIFE: But what about marriage? Did you always dream of that?
ZELLWEGER: No, no.

LIFE: So your thinking was, If I meet somebody . . .
ZELLWEGER: If the circumstances are right, then sure. It was more about it being the right thing to do.

LIFE: Do you think you will fall in love again?
ZELLWEGER: Maybe.

LIFE: And if you don't, would you feel that there was something missing, having been in love before?
ZELLWEGER: I don't know, because I'm different now. I'm different than I was entering into [her relationship with Chesney]. And so, I'm open to something new. . . . I just don't have any expectations. That doesn't mean that I'm not a romantic, and it doesn't mean that I don't have things that I believe in, because I do.

LIFE: So what do you do to escape?
ZELLWEGER: Road trip. Whenever I can. It's been a while.

LIFE: Do you still have your truck?
ZELLWEGER: Same truck that I've always had . . . an old Chevy. A year and a half ago [she drove from] New York to Florida to see my parents. I rented a small car because I wanted to drop it off in Florida. I didn't know where I was going to go.

LIFE: What was the best experience you had on that trip?
ZELLWEGER: A Motel 6 in South Carolina. I wrote a lot that night, and I drove around the little town.

LIFE: You're about to start filming George Clooney's Leatherheads, a 1920s romantic comedy. Is it true he sent you the script one night and you committed the next morning?
ZELLWEGER: Oh, I was in before I read the script. I'm a big fan of his directing, and he's charming. But I'm scared—I've heard he's relentless with the on-set pranks. He plans months in advance, and I'm terrified of what he's got up his sleeve for me.

Newsstand Friday: Ok!

In this issue:

BRITNEY SPEARS
Her desperate search for love

The party isn't over for Britney Spears, who's been clubbing nonstop for the past month. Ever since the November announcement of her impending divorce from estranged husband Kevin Federline, Britney's been out on the town. She was most recently spotted at Les Deux in Hollywood, knocking back drinks and dancing on tables. But Britney's new wild ways may be the singer's attempt at masking her real desire: to find a loving and caring man. 'Deep down she's lonely," a close friend of Britney tells OK!. "She doesn't like being single, and by going out every evening shes hoping she may find someone who loves her...."

NICOLE AND KEITH
The cutie couple says "I do" for a second time

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban plan to start the new year off right. Now that Keith has completed his stint in rehab for alcohol abuse, the couple is planning to renew their vows in a tropical paradise. Their private ceremony will take place on the Caribbean island of St. John, at the home of their pal country singer Kenny Chesney. "They both agree that the second time is the charm," a friend of Keith tells OK!. "It's a gorgeous place - romantic as it gets - and the perfect location for a second wedding and honeymoon."

BRAD AND ANGELINA
What does 2007 have in store for the globe-trotting duo?

Brad and Ange easily claimed the hottest-celeb-couple crown in 2006. It's a title they won’t relinquish in '07. Caroline Kepnes, a respected film critic and screenwriter, tells OK! that people are drawn to them because they represent the perfect pair. So will America's favorite sweethearts finally tie the knot in the new year? According to Brad and Angelina themselves, there's no rush to get hitched. "We both have been married before, so it's not marriage that's kept some people together," says Angelina. "We are legally bound to our children, not to each other, and I think that’s the most important thing."

RENEE ZELLWEGER
The once-married superstar hasn't given up on love

Renee Zellweger is back on screen in Miss Potter, which tells the story of real-life children's author Beatrix Potter. Even though her marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney faltered after four months, Renee still has high hopes for finding true love. "My parents have been married for 45 years, so I can't help but believe in it," says Renee. "I've watched it. I've seen it work."
