Jessica Simpson and John Mayer Kaput?

Just may be, at least for now. Apparently, a source close to the couple has said that they have broken up and gotten back together many times during the course of their relationship. For now, a source close to Jessica has told People magazine that the dynamic duo has ended their romantic pairing.

"They have broken up," says the source. "But they have broken up and gotten back together at least ten times before."

From People magazine,

"According to the source, the pair are in constant contact – even as Simpson promotes her new film Major Movie Star at the Cannes Film Festival in France. "They talk to each other at least six times a day. I don't know if this breakup is permanent, but for right now they are broken up."

Another source who knows the couple confirms to PEOPLE that pair have split. "She's kind and sweet and he's a terrific guy, but it's safe to say it has run its course."

During his concert tour and her various engagements, the two have seemed rather inseparable this year and just recently, Jessica's dad said about Mayer "If Jessica is in love, I love the things she is in love with." And he added: "I want her to be happy."

Okay Newlyweds fans. I know you're still out there with me. Remember how Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were apart all the time? And spent half their time on the phone together then wondered why their relationship wasn't working?

Well, either Jessica Simpson has a ton of time on her hands or she doesn't want to make the same mistake twice. Jessica has been stuck on John Mayer like white on rice. She went on tour with him, then on a Roman holiday, and now she's with him in Australia, where he is performing at the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival on Thursday. I hope that the explanation is that she has learned something and not just that she's in the mood to travel....

Well look who were photographed together at the Grammy's! Yep, Jessica Simpson and John Mayer. Us Weekly also discusses the odd red carpet moment that John had with Ryan Seacrest (and no, Ryan didn't put the moves on him). When Ryan asked about Jessica, John responded in Japanese, which was later translated to reveal that he said: "She is very beautiful, and you'll be the last to know."

They didn't walk the red carpet together, but this picture was taken at the Sony BMG party at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Us asked Daddy Simpson about Jessica and John but he had no comment.

Pop songstress Jessica Simpson will be gracing the cover of the March issue of Elle magazine, looking way cuter than she has in a long time. In the magazine's interview with her she dishes on her career and life after Nick Lachey.

Don't know what Jess was thinking with that dress, but that's beside the point. The real story is that Us Weekly reports that Jessica Simpson joined John Mayer on his tour in Miami this week. Jessica arrived on Monday and met Mayer at the Four Seasons Hotel. They headed out to the Shore Club’s Nobu in South beach for dinner and left to go back to the Four Seasons around 11:30 p.m., when they retired to the Presidential Suite (of course) for the night.

They arrived together with a group of friends to the Hudson Hotel's VIP room on New Year's Eve just after 2:10 a.m. They stayed about 40 minutes, then left to go to Stereo nightclub.

The weekend together continued when they had "dinner at The Mercer Kitchen on Friday, walking around Barneys New York on Saturday, then eating at the Mexican restaurant Dos Caminos in SoHo, where 'they were very flirty, obviously so engaged with each other,' an eyewitness tells PEOPLE."
