Newsstand Friday: OK! Magazine
This week's issue is all about the Simpson sisters. Here's the rundown:
THE SUPER-FAMOUS SISTERS TAKE OVER LONDON
Famous sisters Jessica and Ashlee Simpson sit down with OK! for an exclusive interview in London, where Ashlee is currently starring in the musical Chicago. The 20-something sibs are refreshingly candid as they talk about being famous, future plans and each other. “You don’t have to be what people tell you to be. It’s been harder for me to learn that, because I’ve always been forced one way or the other,” says Jessica of what she’s taught Ashlee about fame. “Ashlee has always had the freedom to be who she wants to be.” Says Ashlee, of her big sis, “She’s a fighter and she’s always thinking on her toes. People knock her down and she gets back up…”
Dealing with the weighty issue of a wedding
Tom Cruise is getting married next month – but don’t tell that to his trainer. The usually svelte star has packed on a few extra pounds. According to experts, that’s just because Tom is feeling good enough about himself to not worry about an expanding waistline. Dr. Philip Goglia, who has worked with celebs, including Owen Wilson, adds that grooms tend to insulate because they are anxious about their big day. “They’re going out with their buddies for their last hurrah,” Dr. Goglia tells OK!, “eating more chicken wings and imbibing more than usual.” OK! whips up a surefire plan for Tom (and other husbands-to-be) to lose the weight fast.
The former party girl settles down in her beachfront home
Tara Reid invited OK! into her beachfront home in California. Since turning 30 last November, Tara has retired her party girl ways and is now concentrating on a more quiet and peaceful life. “I’ve partied with the best of them and done it all — it gets boring after a while. I’m ready for the next chapter,” she says. Tara talks about how entering her 30s has shifted her priorities. “I think about kids a lot more. I really want kids, and I’m ready to meet a good guy and settle down.” Tara has some advice for the Lindsay Lohans and other 20-something stars who party: “My advice is to be careful. I wish I’d been a lot more private with my relationships and a lot of other stuff, but that’s what I’ve learned in life.”
The dancing fool prepares for fatherhood
John O’Hurley and wife Lisa celebrated the impending birth of their first child, a boy, at the Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, and OK! was there for the happy occasion. “I’ve lived life at my whim for 50 years, so I’m ready for something life-changing,” John tells OK!. John already has career aspirations for his son. “The minute I can, I’m bringing the baby on Family Feud,” jokes John of his current hosting gig. Adds Lisa, as she refers to her husband’s stint on Dancing With the Stars, “John is already sizing him up for a white tux.”
