The Wiggles to Lose Lead Singer
Not the type of news we usually go for, but certainly somber for the toddler set.
The popular children's group, The Wiggles, is expected to announce the departure of their lead singer this week, due to a serious illness.
The Australian group has scheduled a press conference tomorrow to make a "major announcement relating to members of the group," according to the Sydney Morning Herald, Australian Associated Press and the online edition of Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper.
The "Yellow Wiggle," Greg Page, has been absent quite a bit from touring since undergoing a double hernia operation in December. Since June, he has had medical treatment for fainting spells and lethargy.
The Wiggles were Australia's top-earning entertainers last year, ahead of actress Nicole Kidman, grossing $39 million in 2005.
"I have had numerous bouts of this over the past eight months but they are getting more frequent, and more concerning," Greg said to The Daily Telegraph. "So I have decided that I must go home, rest and seek further medical advice to assure myself that I will be OK for future tours."
