Pick Me, Justin! Pick Me!
Well, I don't actually have much of a chance of getting picked because I can't carry a tune in a bucket. But, if you can sing, Justin wants you to sing a duet with him at the Grammy's. MSNBC reports that "The Recording Academy, together with CBS Corp. and Yahoo Inc., is holding a contest to find an unsigned artist to perform with the 25-year-old "SexyBack" singer at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, to air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 11." Oh yeah. It's for real!
If you want to compete for the spot, you have to submit a 60-second video clip of yourself singing one of nine songs selected by Timberlake. Each of the six songs has won a Grammy: Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You," Luther Vandross' "Dance With My Father," Melissa Etheridge's "Come to My Window," Timberlake's "Cry Me a River," Faith Hill's "Breathe," Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It," Aretha Franklin's "Respect," Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" and Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love.") Then a panel will whittle the group of contestants to 12 and we can vote online to narrow them down to five, then to three.
The top three will attend the Grammys and the winner will be announced during the show. That person will then jump up onstage with JT and sing with him! This stunt may actually make me watch more than 5 minutes of the Grammys this year.
