Brandy Involved in Fatal Car Accident
Strange that it took nearly three weeks for this news to surface, but R&B singer Brandy was involved in a car accident on December 30th, and it appears she may have been at fault.
The accident happened at 10:30 a.m. when Brandy's 2007 Land Rover collided with another vehicle, resulting in a deadly four-car pile-up.
California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang said that Brandy was driving in the slow lane of the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles at a speed of 65 mph. The cars in front of her had slowed down though. It is unknown if she just didn't see those cars slow down, or if her car had some sort of mechanical problem, and the accident is still being investigated by authorities. She crashed into the vehicle in front of her, being driven by 38-year-old Los Angeles woman Awatef Aboudihaj, and that set off a domino affect, with Aboudihaj then hitting a car driven by 82-year-old Donald Lite, causing Aboudihaj's car to slide sideways, into the freeway's center divider and bounce back to a stop in a different lane.
Then a fourth car, driven by 50-year-old Mallory Ham, broadsided Aboudihaj's vehicle.
While Ham suffered moderate injuries, Aboudihaj was found in critical condition and taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where, Tang said, she was treated for multiple pelvic fractures. She died the next night, with the cause of death listed as major blunt force trauma.
Brandy issued a statement through her publicist, "She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased," Courtney Barnes said. "Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time."
Charges have not been filed yet, pending the completion of the accident investigation.
