What's Up With Jake and Reese?

I am a fan of the Reese Witherspoon/Jake Gyllenhaal love connection, mostly because they aren't out flaunting it and trying to get publicity (does Bennifer ring a bell?) So, I was interested in this news from Us Weekly that "Reese Witherspoon had an evening of laughs and libations at L.A.’s La Terza on June 16 with pal Renée Zellweger and six other friends." That's right, no Jakey in sight for her night out.

Us Weekly says that this is further evidence that their relationship has cooled. So every time a girl goes out with her girlfriends that means her relationship is in trouble? I'm not buying it, Us Weekly. You're gonna have to give me more than that before I give up on Reese and Jake.

Apparently they have an anonymous source so says: "She cares for Jake, but the timing is crappy. She doesn’t have enough emotional space for him right now." Still not buying it!!

It just may be too soon for Reese Witherspoon to engage in a full-fledged romance. Her budding relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal cooled after the two spent Easter weekend with their families and not each other. The 31-year-old actress, who is still technically married to her estranged husband Ryan Phillippe, may also be concerned about how that will look to her children. “What message is this sending to her daughter?” asks a friend of the Walk the Line star. The press that Reese and Jake’s romance generated may have been too much for the private actress to take, and if protecting her kids meant sacrificing her personal happiness, it was “a small price to pay,” her friend tells OK!...

Even in the plush accommodations of the Promises rehabilitation facility, Britney is having a hard time coming to terms with her stay. She refuses to take the medications prescribed for her condition (some say that the young mom has suffered from postpartum depression) or to participate in family counseling with her parents. But Britney has taken time to reflect on her failed relationships with men and realizes she won’t be reconciling with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, any time soon. “Britney needs to spend some time without a man in her life,” a friend of the pop star tells OK!, “so she can learn to love herself again.”

The mom-to-be gets a scary warning to slow down

Last month, Julia Roberts learned the importance of taking it easy when you’re expecting — the five-months pregnant star landed in the hospital. After several days of frightening symptoms, Julia’s husband, Danny Moder, insisted she go to the hospital. “He was really insistent, and her doctor agreed,” says a friend. “He had Julia go to the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.” OK! also reveals the sex of the couple’s third child.

They were spotted in NYC last week when Reese allegedly visited Jake's Greenwich Village penthouse. The next day, Jakey visited Reese at her hotel.

Us Weekly looks like a good one this week. They've got the usual Oscar Special with a look at what everyone wore, where they partied, and what went down. Us also discusses Kevin's side of the story of Britney's latest drama and gives us the dish on the possible fate of Anna Nicole's baby.

Fashion Police: Oscars 2007

Melissa, I love you. Not nearly as much as your girlfriend Tammy Lynn Michaels, does, of course, but I am very fond of you. But hon, we've got to talk. The suit? We've seen it. In hundreds of incarnations. All from you. Let's try something different. Change it up a bit. Hey, did you happen to notice what Ellen did on the cover of W magazine? You can still wear a suit but rock it out a little bit. Go ahead, walk on the wild side. Just a little. We'll still be here, I promise.

No, I don't know why Jennifer Hudson is wearing a little girls' jacket with her Oscar gown either, but when I find out, I'll be sure to let you know. 'Tis a shame, because up until now, it seemed as if the Dreamgirls and American Idol alum star and her stylist were a well-oiled team, getting the styling right red carpet after red carpet. Take off that silly, too-small jacket though, and I think they may be on to something. Oh, but that hair. I almost forgot about the Judy Jetson style plastered to one side of your head. Well, J. Hud, there's always next year.

Forest Whitaker who? The Oscar nominee is completely overshadowed by his gorgeous wife, Keisha. Glowing, almost incandescent, but most of all, beautiful.

No, it's not Mutt and Jeff. It's Nicole Kidman and her best gal pal Naomi Watts. Look closely. Look really closely. On the left side of Nicole Kidman's dress, there is a giant Christmas present bow. Seems she forgot to take off all the wrapping when she put her dress on. If that ridiculously oversized bow was gone, I might be able to forgive the dark eyebrows, bright lipstick and dress that nearly rescisely matches the red carpet. But alas, I cannot. Nicole, we still love you anyway.

With her girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres, hosting the Oscars, actress Portia de Rossi knew there would be some eyes on her, and she pulled it off with flying colors. Beautiful hair, make-up and dress. Stunning and gorgeous.

It's the pose, it's the angle, it's the fit of the gown, it's the style ... and it's all a thumbs down for new mom Maggie Gyllenhaal. Just very unflattering, but at least she got to enjoy a night on the town with her baby's daddy, Peter Sarsgaard.

Divorce certainly seems to agree with actress Reese Witherspoon. Between this and her other recent red carpet appearances, she has never looked more gorgeous. In my opinion, she wins the Most Beautiful award for tonight's red carpet, hands down. Gorgeous.

Good news: Gwyneth Paltrow broke out of her red carpet mold a bit and wore a different color and style and it worked well for her. Bad news: ENOUGH OF THE HAIR DRAPE ALREADY! She kept putting her too-long hair in front, especially any time the camera was on her. Gwynnie, honey, it's ok to put your long hair down your back. We'll still know it's there. Really, we will. Yes, it's pretty. Yes, it's nice and blonde and long. Really long. Did I say too long yet? But let's try something different. Put it behind you. Put it up. But enough of the hair already. It's wearing YOU, instead of the other way around. Okay, I feel better now.

Jennifer Lopez arrives arm-in-arm with husband, Latin crooner, Marc Anthony. Ryan Seacrest mentioned in his red carpet coverage that he thought Jennifer looked "hot." I think she looks good, though I've seen her look better. I wish the make-up was a little more vibrant, but Jenny from the Block still has got it going on.

Couldn't resist adding this second picture of Jennifer Lopez. I like the dress a lot better now that I've seen the entire thing. And how cute is she when she's giggling? Love her.

Fashion Police: SAG Awards

Madison will be bringing you more Fashion Police coverage when the West Coast wakes up, but I'm going to get us started. From what I saw, there seemed to be very few fashion flops on last night's red carpet. A lot of black, a lot of color risks, a lot more conservative choices than usual, and many, many beautiful people. Let's get it started.

Demi Moore with husband Ashton Kutcher and House star, Hugh Laurie. Could she look any more gorgeous or ageless? Beautiful color and flow of the dress.

This picture of Cate Blanchett does not do her dress justice. I'll be searching for another one, but in the meantime, the gold shimmer of this one was gorgeous, without being tacky.

Kyra Sedgwick from The Closer keeps it simple, understated and elegant.

Vanessa Williams chooses a bright color that works really well for her. And the hair? SO much better than the Golden Globes tease she was trying to rock.

Kate Walsh and Patrick Dempsey. Interesting color choice for a red head, but I think it works for her.

Reese Witherspoon plays it safe, but manages to look as classy as ever.

Sandra Oh has a habit of nailing it, or being really far off the mark. This time? She got it. Beautiful, elegant with just the right touch of sparkle.

There is a full-length shot of Eva Longoria, but this tender picture of her and Tony Parker was too good to pass up.

Reese Moves Home

Well, she at least is moving back near home.

Reese Witherspoon decided to pull up her stakes in Hollywood and head to Charleston, South Carolina, according to the New York Post's Liz Smith. Reese has enrolled both of her kids, Ava, 7, and Deacon, 3, in public school there.

Good move Reese. Good move.
