It's Official: Eddie Murphy is Getting Hitched

Despite the fact that funnyman Eddie Murphy is still knee-deep in a paternity battle with Melanie Brown (aka Scary Spice), he popped the question to his girlfriend Tracy Edmonds last week. And given the sparkler on her left hand, she happily accepted.

MELANIE BROWN
Only in OK!: The former Spice Girl talks about her new baby and unexpected split with Eddie Murphy!
Melanie Brown, formerly known as Scary Spice, is the proud new mother of a healthy baby girl, Angel Iris Murphy Brown. But the joyous occasion is marred by fact that the alleged father, Oscar-nominated actor Eddie Murphy, has ceased all contact with Melanie. The new mom welcomed OK! into her home to introduce her bundle of joy to the world. “We both know this is his baby,” Melanie tells OK! exclusively. “If he wants to do a DNA test, do it. Step up to the plate and be responsible. I have no doubt that this is Eddie's baby.”

REESE WITHERSPOON
Why America’s sweetheart dumped Jake!
It just may be too soon for Reese Witherspoon to engage in a full-fledged romance. Her budding relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhaal cooled after the two spent Easter weekend with their families and not each other. The 31-year-old actress, who is still technically married to her estranged husband Ryan Phillippe, may also be concerned about how that will look to her children. “What message is this sending to her daughter?” asks a friend of the Walk the Line star. The press that Reese and Jake’s romance generated may have been too much for the private actress to take, and if protecting her kids meant sacrificing her personal happiness, it was “a small price to pay,” her friend tells OK!...

SANJAYA
The controversial Idol star breaks down
You saw him wipe away a few tears after he was announced in the bottom three during Country Week. Now OK! reveals Sanjaya Malakar’s full emotional breakdown before he was booted off the show. His fellow contestants had to console the tearful 17-year-old. “Even Chris Richardson hugged him,” an eyewitness tells OK!...

CHERYL BURKE
Stepping out in the hottest fashions
Dancing With the Stars’ Cheryl Burke slipped into ’70s-inspired attire and shared her hope for reaching the top spot for a third time on the wildly popular reality series. “I think Ian is so talented,” she says of her new partner Ian Ziering. “He’s in good shape and catches on quickly. I think the only thing that might hold us back is his taking it a little too seriously.” The 22-year-old dancer also reveals her fashion obsession. “I love rhinestones and glitter. The more glitter, the happier I am!”

It's Official: Scary Spice Melanie Brown Gives Birth

Ahhh, but who's the daddy?

Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown gave birth to a still-unnamed baby girl yesterday. Her rep said, "The baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair. Mother and baby are now resting. No name has been decided on as yet and she is purely known as Baby Brown. Both mother and baby are expected to leave the hospital in the next few days and are looking forward to going back home."

The new baby, weighing in at a tiny 5 lb., 4 oz., will join Melanie's 8-year-old daughter, Phoenix Chi, from her ex-husband, dancer Jimmy Gulzar.

Unfortunately, the paternity issue is still up in the air. Melanie has said from day one that comedian/actor Eddie Murphy, her short-lived boyfriend, is the father. He has denied that and has insisted on a blood test. Way to start the bonding relationship, Eddie.

Jennifer Hudson is Having a Good Day

New actress is riding a wild ride. Fresh from her appearance on American Idol, she landed a role in the movie Dreamgirls, alongside Beyonce and Eddie Murphy. Not too shabby for her first acting gig. Well, if that wasn't enough, she just found out that she was nominated for a Golden Globe award. She found out when she appeared on the Today show this morning. "I'm overwhelmed right now. I just started screaming when they said the names." She's going to have to start dreaming even bigger.

Nicole Richie's Go-To Call? Joel Madden

When she was arrested Monday morning, Nicole Richie listed Joel Madden as her "emergency contact person" on her booking papers. The pair have only been dating a few weeks, since he broke up with Hilary Duff, but I guess it's going well. Last night on The Insider, Hollywood stars lent Nicole their support in her trying times, including Randy Jackson and Eddie Murphy.

Poor Scary Spice...

As we reported earlier, it looks like there will definitely be a paternity test given when Melanie B. (formerly of the Spice Girls) gives birth in a few months to her baby. She says it's Eddie Murphy's baby. He says he's not so sure.

In a statement released today, Mel said, "I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media. I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way. "My main concern is for the well being of my (seven-year-old) daughter Phoenix and of course the baby. I was astonished at what Eddie said - there is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father."

In an interview that aired on Monday, Eddie said about Melanie and the upcoming baby, "We're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."

Poor Melanie didn't even know their relationship was over until the interview aired. Ouch. Reminds me of when Minnie Driver learned that her relationship with Matt Damon was over, only because he announced he was single on Oprah.

Poor kid. Not even born yet and already all this drama. I only hope that if Eddie is NOT the father, someone more caring is.
